Last night I was pondering what kind of house project I want to get into next when a lightbulb went off:: the kitchen. The kitchen is my least favorite room in our house. The space feels contractor-basic with 1990s honey oak cabinets. The handles are brass but not in a good way. I'd love to photograph recipes in our kitchen but right now I avoid it. All that said, we have a lot to be thankful for:: the cabinets are functional and we have added nice appliances.
To put it simply: the current aesthetic in our kitchen is dated and not our style.
We have lived in our home 3 years have since talked about a kitchen remodel, but the timing hasn't been right. Money is tight! But last night I decided that money shouldn't be an obstacle--instead I am going to treat it like a challenge. I have decided to get started on our kitchen this summer--on a very small budget.
I didn't spend any time in here before I took the photos, so pardon the clutter & dirt in our kitchen! I wanted to share what our kitchen really looks like right now.
Next week I'll be back on the blog sharing initial design ideas for the space. I'd love your feedback on them, so please be sure to visit the blog again next week!
