Last year I updated our oak cabinets in our upstairs bathroom with bright paint and freshened up the space. But I didn't improve the decor or functionality in the space. I just finished updating the bathroom with new accessories that add both class and functionality, and am excited to show it off! And below I am giving 4 tips for how to refresh your bathroom in a weekend! I refreshed our upstairs bathroom with the help of Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® Mega Rolls and a shopping trip to my local Target.
1. Analyze needs and wants
Before you head to the store, ask yourself a few questions: What is working in the space and what needs help? Is the artwork still relevant (and do I love it?) Do I have adequate storage for towels? Do I have a good place to store extra toilet paper? One of the things I wanted to update in the upstairs bathroom was a better trashcan with a lid.
Make a list of things you would like to fix in the bathroom.
2. Evaluate Your Current Colors and Style
For a weekend refresh--plan to keep the wall color the same and change things up with accessories. I swapped out artwork that felt too babyish in the space for a piece of artwork from the Pillowfort Collection. The artwork ties together the yellow boat we already had in the room and the colorful rug.
Snap a few pictures of your bathroom with your phone before going to the store so you can evaluate what colors and styles will work in the space.
3. Add In the Details
Accessories give boring bathrooms instant personality.
4. Improve Function in the Space
Think of adding accessories that have more than 1 purpose.
